Colin Bruce ‘Shorty’ Young passed away in Caboolture, Queensland in November 2022, sadly followed a month later by his wife, Christine.

Shorty grew up in Queensland, and after being called up for National Service joined 105th Battery in Vietnam in March 1969, where he served as a Gun Number on Alpha Sub, and was detached for a period as barman in the Officers’/Sergeants’ Mess.  He was one of the battery characters: popular, fun loving, independent, supportive.

In later life Shorty worked as a storeman.  He kept in close contact with friends made in Vietnam and was a regular attendee at Battery Association reunions, where he and Christine did much to add to the occasion by producing commemorative material.  For many years Christine also assisted in the production of the Association’s magazine.

Vale Shorty Young and wife Christine.
