Quentin was born in Kent 31 October 1921, studied Military Engineering at Edinburgh and joined the British Army. Serving as a Captain he took part in the allied landings in Sicily and mainland Italy in 1943. In 1947 he moved with his parents to Australian to take up his mother’s inheritance of the Camden Park property as the sixth generation of the wool pioneers John and Elizabeth Macarthur.

He joined the CMF R of O 1 February 1950 and the RAA Association in 1953. In 1956 Capt. R. Q. O. Stanham now T/Major was appointed to command P Battery 32 Heavy Regiment. In October 1960 he was Battery Commander 130 Corps Locating Battery based at Padstow. In 1962 he was promoted to CO 23 Field Regiment Belmore where he served until 1965.

In the ‘70s he was promoted Brigadier and Commander Royal Artillery 2 Division. During this time he was an Honorary Vice-President of the Association. He received the ED.
