Peter William Groves passed away in Nowra, New South Wales on 23 March 2023, survived by his son, Richard, his daughter, Melanie, their partners, and five grandchildren.

Born Bombala, Peter left school at age fourteen to help look after the family farm on the death of his father, later moving to Sydney. Called up for National Service in May 1968, he served with 105th Battery on its second tour of Vietnam, initially as a Gun Number and then, on promotion to Bombardier, as 2iC of Echo Sub, a significant achievement for a National Serviceman.  He was a popular figure on the gun line with a quiet and quirky sense of humour.

After discharge, Peter married his long-time girlfriend, Wendy, in 1972.  He ran a landscaping business in Canberra for ten years, and then became a bus driver for the remainder of his working life.  In retirement he worked with OzHarvest. He was a dedicated family man who relished the company of his immediate and wider family, and devotedly cared for his wife for many years until her unfortunate passing with MND.

Vale Peter Groves.
