Vale - Warrant Officer Class Two Bevan Filce Bevan passed away in the Launceston General Hospital after a long battle with health issues; his family was present.

Members of the RAA Assoc of Tas will remember Bevan  from the late 1960’s when he was posted to 16 Field Battery RAA 6 Field Regiment RAA as the ARA CADRE BSM & AIG for a number of years prior to being posted to Vietnam in 1970 and returning to Launceston in May 1971 to 34 Cadet Bn.

Bevan’s funeral was held at C T Finney Centre Kings Meadows on Monday 14th Jan 2013 starting at 1230hrs. The service was well attended by relatives, friends plus a good number of our members of the Royal Australian Artillery Association of Tasmania Inc. paying their respects by being present - I noted that everybody was in the C T Finney Centre by the start of the service, nobody was late. Is that a reflection on Bevan’s discipline? The service was conducted by Father Mark Freeman who remembers Bevan when he was a cadet at St Patrick’s College and Bevan was a WO instructor with 34 Cadet Battalion. When Mark was in Cadet camp his order of dress was questioned by Bevan because Mark was wearing his father’s Officers pattern great coat!!  Ms Karolyn Lunson delivered the Words of Remembrance about Bevan’s life eloquently, followed by a Photo Presentation.   Mr Norman Warburton of the Launceston RSL conducted an RSL service followed by Mr Richard Clarke playing the last post and rouse on a flugelhorn. After that Colonel Steve Carey delivered the Artillery Prayer COL Carey then gave Bevan the order “Warrant Officer Filce, End of Mission, Rest ”, Father Mark Freeman delivered the final Blessing.

Bevan’s family thanked those present for their support and attendance and invited all to join them for refreshments in the adjoining lounge area to complete our farewell to Bevan. He now joins Mary who passed away just seventeen months before him. I believe Bevan would have approved of his send off.
